The Gateway on Flickr. The Golden Gate Bridge from Battery Spencer.
Although the bridge is breathtaking from this view, what makes it is the city laid out right behind. It would be an awesome view even if the Golden Gate wasn’t there.

Yank Sing:

Here’s a short post of a great restaurant in downtown San Francisco. I’ve been to plenty of dim sum places before; this is my favorite of the bunch by far. For those who aren’t familiar with these types of restaurants, you order small dishes at a time from carts rolled around by servers.

image

This is the star of the place: Shanghai dumplings. These delicate dumplings are filled with pork and a soup broth. You place the dumpling on a soup spoon, add the red ginger sauce, drink the soup within, and then eat it! Delicious!

image

image

Along with the Shanghai dumplings, my sister and I had seasoned string beans, chicken feet, har gow (shrimp dumplings), and shrimp rice noodle rolls.

image

Overall, Yank Sing had excellent food and service. I can’t wait to come back again!

King of the Hill on Flickr.
The view of the Sutro Tower and surrounding neighborhoods from Corona Heights Peak. I’m here in San Francisco vacationing for a week before I start my internship at Silicon Valley. My first full day here and I ran, walked, and hiked a total of 10 miles in the city. All was worth it, especially this view from the top of Corona Heights!

A great piece of street art by Ben Eine at Hayes Valley, San Fran.
I’ve looked at his work from his website and it’s inspiring. He brings attractive, optimistic messages in many places throughout the world.

View of Market St. and the rest of the city from Twin Peaks at night.
After our failed attempt to see the view of the city (described here), the fog cleared out the last night I was in SF. I literally jumped out of the car with my camera and tripod when I saw the view when we stopped at the top. My family came out to see the view too, but after a few minutes they we back in the car. I was still out in the cold taking shots :P I was waiting for the perfect moment where some cars were driving down the road.
This literally was the best way to end my trip :) Hopefully I will be returning soon.

Looking up at the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge.
This day was the last full day I had in San Francisco. My family finally was able to park near the Golden Gate and walk on it for a bit. It was a usual foggy day in SF, and it wasn’t as windy. We walked starting from the south entrance and it was somewhat breezy and I thought, “Hey, this is fine!” Little did I know that when we got further down it was way windy. Amy and I made it a little past the south tower and then turned around and went back. The howling winds and speeding cars was pretty scary.
We took some jumping shots (as usual for us) near the tower. My external flash came in handy as a fill-light on the foggy bridge. While returning, I found an Eneloop battery: a sign that other photographers with external flashes were here too!
